For a number of years the Dyer Craft have endeavoured to find a suitable charity, group or club with whom we can develop a deeper longer term relationship. This year we have engaged with the Tayside Dynamos Powerchair Football Club. Powerchair football is currently the single fastest growing disability team sport in the UK. There are very few, if any team sports that allow powerchair users the chance to compete with other similarly impaired individuals in a fast paced, dynamic and exciting way. The game itself has a number of benefits for those taking part including enhanced Powerchair skills, inclusion, self-confidence and a general wellbeing that taking part in team sport brings. The sport in Scotland does not currently receive any Paralympic funding or funding via Scottish Disability Sport but relies heavily on local clubs sourcing their own funds via donations, grants and sponsorship.
We are pleased to report that the Craft has been awarded significant funding from the Nine Trades General Fund Charity with a commitment for the next three years. All Craftsman will be invited to attend an event planned for Sunday 1st September. Further details will be circulated in the near future.
