Charity Convener of The Nine Incorporated Trades, David Craig, and Boxmaster of The Glover Craft, Lorna Edwards, made a special visit to the Dundee Ducks Inline Hockey Club in Dundee tonight.

The Nine Incorporated Trades are funding the trip for five of the Duck teams, who have all qualified to take part in the BIPHA (British Inline Puck Hockey Association) National Championships in Rotherham and Bisley between May and June this year.

The Club is so much more than a sports club – it offers young people from across the City a safe space to gather and socialise whilst learning the discipline and camaraderie of sport, at all times under the watchful eye of the coaches and parent volunteers who selflessly give up their time to mentor and support them.

One of the oldest inline clubs in Scotland, the Dundee Ducks were founded in 1994 by a group of friends who got together to play hockey in the streets.

Hundreds of local children and young people of all ages, from the ages of 8 to 18, now train and play out of a purpose-built rink, the best in Scotland, at Manhattan Works in Dundee. There are teams of all abilities as well as a session for complete beginners. Saturday skating sessions take place between 10am and 11.50am for anyone who would like to try the sport – Entry is just £1 to skate or spectate and an extra £1 to hire skates.

The Club are affiliated to BIPHA and play in the Scottish Region League.

Whilst in-line hockey is a co-ed sport, the club is also home to the only all-female team in Scotland – the Daisy Ducks.

The Nine Incorporated Trades of Dundee wish the Dundee Ducks the best of luck at the National Championships.  We know you will do Dundee proud and, whilst adding a trophy or five to your collection would be amazing, we hope you enjoy the experience every bit as much. We’d say break a leg but perhaps quack a leg is more apt.
